We continue the series on the beatitudes. When I taught the 4th beatitude, I began the lesson with a creative reading of all the beatitudes. I thought I’d share it in a separate post today, before the next lesson on the 4th beatitude.
This creative reading, by the way, was very effective and impacted the class. I am not creative enough to write something like this, and I will share the beginning of it only and then link you to the original source for you to keep reading it. I altered it by having the original beatitude read before the “altered” one. I had a class member read the original beatitude, and then I read the satanic one.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the kick-butt, independent, self-sufficient, “I’m strong enough on my own,” people, for theirs is the kingdom of hell.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are those who feel no sorrow over their sin, and who only express shallow, “religious“, worldly repentance because of the consequences of their sin, because their hearts shall be hardened.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who have swagger, who make others stagger, who have an entourage, who assert their own rights, who fight for their own agenda, for they shall inherit hell.
