I’ve blogged for years now, and used to have a “quote Monday” feature. Here are some worthwhile statements from Erwin Lutzer:
God doesn’t help those who help themselves. God helps those who know they cannot help themselves.
Don’t ever have a goal that is not wrapped up in the centrality of Christ.
The will of God supersedes our personal happiness.
Don’t ever make a decision that will rob God of His glory.
All wrong views of salvation overestimate the goodness of mankind.
Our own idols have this peculiar characteristic of always agreeing with us.
Anyone who speaks from a standpoint of superiority as a Christian doesn’t understand the implications or the depth of Christianity.
God is not impressed by those who believe themselves to be independent. But God is moved to bless those who acknowledge their complete dependence upon Him. However, this must not be thought of as a strategy for getting God to do what we want Him to do. Our spiritual life is about our seeking to discover what God wants us to do, and then relying upon Him to help us to do those things. We must cultivate faith, humility, attentiveness, and obedience in ourselves.
Good clarifications Tom, and excellent thoughts. Thanks for sharing.
