“Since you are such vulgar blockheads that you think such lewd and stupid gossip will harm me or bring you honor, you are the real Hanswursts – blockheads, boors, and dunderheads.” -Martin Luther
Check out this site: Luther insults.
Insult in the unique way that only Luther could! Please read the “explanation of insults” on the site. The author of the site is Lutheran and it is all in the spirit of good humor! So…don’t get your pants in a wad…okay? Relax. Laugh.
Which reminds me of a past post entitled: Slave owners, sex addicts, and anti-semites: how do you talk about flawed heroes? Many of our theological (and biblical) heroes were flawed. While we don’t want to put people on pedestals and ignore their flaws, neither should we focus exclusively on their negative traits. As the Luther insult site explains: “Of course, to imagine Luther’s crass words are the sum total of the reformer is to misconstrue Luther, for he had many beautiful thoughts as well.”
I think Luther himself might get a kick out of us finding some humor in his boorish remarks…Begin your week on a light note!

This was so refreshingly funny. Thanks!
I clicked through a number of insults, Laura, and now I feel ready for the world. What a hoot!
Reminds me of something Huey P Long might have said in a stump speech…
