Just a “fun” post today. I was in the chain store “Old Time Pottery” and looking down the aisle that has decorative storage boxes – many of which were designed to look like a book. Some were whimsical, colorful, etc. But then I saw an antique looking set of these book storage boxes. And the title on them was “Concise Dictionary of Christian Theology” by Millard J. Erickson!! What in the world? How does an evangelical theologian end up as home decor?
While getting old, Erickson is still alive! Did he give his permission? Does he even know about this? Is he getting royalties? I sordof doubt it – as it is cheap, made in China merchandise. Is there a copyright violation of some type going on? Erickson is a modern theologian and his books are not old enough to have passed the copyright expiration. Of course, only the book title and his name is on it – no content. But I wonder…
I have several books by Erickson on my shelf like his Basic Bible Doctrine and Systematic Theology. I’ve always appreciated him as a theologian and his books have been useful to me.
Should we be amused…ashamed…honored…that an evangelical theologian has now become home decor?? I was really quite amused! I tried to locate them for sale online without success. Maybe I’ll head back to take a photo so everyone will believe me! While this isn’t them, here is the style:

What a hoot, Laura! There should be a whole line of these things. We could have Sproul and Pink and Zacharias and a bunch of others. People would know our doctrinal bent by the knickknacks we have on our shelves!
